demonstration of Understanding.....
So this project was tied to a research paper that I completed for my University class. I decided that the research I found would work nicely as a foundation to spreading awareness of the different infections that can cause issues during a pregnancy. A lot of people just think that taking prenatal vitamins and getting regular check-up is good enough but it isn't.
Not only is it important for the mother to stay healthy and be caught up on certain immunizations, it's also important for us as a community to do the same. People have many different reasons for not vaccinating their children, and thats ultimately up to them, however, the decision has consequences not only for the person who isn't vaccinated but to babies who can contract illness even if their mothers are vaccinated. Babies don't have an immunity and also can't be vaccinated with certain vaccines until they reach a certain age so if other people around them aren't vaccinated and it spreads this can cause great harm to these infants.
By making a presentation to share awareness to the community I feel as tho I was able to share information that was informal to the next generation to have children. I decided to present this to AMES HOSA club, a health science club, to target the awareness to these young teens that may be having children within the next 10 years of their lives, to assure all possible ways to protect not only themselves but their babies. The hope of spreading awareness is to eradicate the birth defects caused by these infection as well as eradicating the spreading of these infections in the first place.
