Ethical appeals requires a lot of critical thinking. You have to analyze the text pulling examples of each appeal; Ethos, Logos, and Pathos to back up the authors claims. The rhetorical analysis essay I wrote on the Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions is attached. I had to use critical thinking to analyze The declaration of sentiments and resolutions, and then pick out the appeals the author used to express emotion, logic, and ethics/character throughout the article to persuade the audience of their claim.

Effective Communication DRSL.
The first things you might think of when it comes to effective communication is listening, speaking clearly, compromising, etc. Effective communication to me is getting the message across clearly and with purpose. Most people wouldn't ever think to use an argumentative essay as a good way to communicate with someone. However, I have always been one to jump into a debate, and using an argumentative essay is a way for me to get my message across with evidence to support it. In this argumentative paper I used effective communication skills to argue why euthanasia, aka, medical assisted suicide should be legal. Not only did I have to argue relevant point to support the legalization of euthanasia, but I also had to argue the other side and prove why that wasn't ethical due to a patients right to their own autonomy.

Integration and Application of Knowledge in Civic, Social, and Personal Context DRSL
This is an essay I wrote for my math class about different statistics. These documents are the actual survey I took and the essay to explain what my research was on and how that data was skewed. This survey and calculations show my application to knowledge by showing the skills I learned in math, and applying them to real world situations. In this case I wanted to know how many times the average person is admitted into the hospital. So i surveyed a small population, friends and family, the took the resulting data and created a normal bell curve then distributed the average as well as those who fell one or two deviations below or about the average.

Critical Thinking DRSL
For my Critical Thinking essay I chose to do my self portrait that I had to write for my University Writing class. For me this essay was rather difficult and required critical thinking, especially trying to tie in how reading and writing have impacted my life. This was rather difficult because I have never been a big reader or writer so trying to come up with times when my life was effected positively or negatively wasn't easy. However I managed to express the effect reading has had in my life, even though it wasn't extreme I made It work.

For my effective communication essay I chose my research papers on deafness and the challenges the deaf community faces when it comes to fitting into a hearing society. This includes trying to communicate with others in a society where verbal communication is more acceptable than physical communication. Deaf people actually have great communication skills via signing and body language, and use those skills to read people to try and understand what that person is saying without being able to hear them. They are also really good a reading peoples body languages as a way of telling ones emotions. This shows effective communication, because there are more than one way to communicate with someone, and I show that by explaining what it's like living in a deaf community.

Integration and Application of Knowledge in Civics, Social, and Personal Context DRSL
For my integration and Application of Knowledge in Civics, Social, and Personal Context I chose to use the Fifth Amendment issue essay I wrote in Government class. I was assigned to the fifth amendment by my teacher and then I was to do research to find loopholes of new issues with that amendment in the court of law. I decided to use the fingerprint scanners on iPhones as a way of self-incrimination issues in a court of law, and how that effects ones fifth Amendment rights, "No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury..." And how it's an issue. This essay shows my application of knowledge by giving me the back ground on the fifth amendment from government class and then now my knowledge of my rights if there was a case that I needed to use my fifth amendment right, or prevent myself from getting phone that could potentially cause self incrimination issues.
